TWO DAYS TO AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS 2013

The 29th edition of the African Cup of Nations commences on the 19th of January, 2012. We want to us this medium to wish the Super Eagles and Coach Steven Keshi well and we call on them to do us proud.
KontriMan also uses this medium to congratulate Confederation of African Football (CAF) and South Africa and wish the well also. We hope that the tournament would be a success and surpass past edition. As for the other participating countries we call on them to play good football and uphold all that is good in the game. All stakeholders in African Football should see themselves as ambassadors for the continent.
Africa, the world is watching.

LAMIDO: GOVERNMENT MAGIC!

This people in Government must really think Nigerians are really stupid and as such treat us with disdain and contempt. If not how can one explain the drama currently unfolding on the issue of his son money laundering case.
The other day it was that the Judges were in a conference and yesterday the story was that the Judge that the matter was assigned to was not on seat.

CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA

It is a known fact that today in Nigeria, corruption is one of the biggest problems we face in Nigeria. It is no secrete that our leaders are corrupt. But the story does not end there; let us truly reflect and ask our selves this fundamental question? Is it only our leaders that are corrupt, what of we the people; are we any better?

AS NIGERIA REMEMBERS HER FALLEN HEROES...

KontriMan joins KontriPipu to remember our fallen heroes and pray that they did not die in vain. The only way their deaths would not have been in vain is if Nigeria becomes a great country.
Let us all endeavour to make Nigeria great.
Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress.

WHO GO BLINK FIRST: BABA IYABO OR EBELE?

In recent times the news has been awash with stories of the rift between Chief Matthew Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The climax of this battle at the moment is the sacking of Olagunsoye Oyinlola (an Obasanjo man) by Bamanga Tukur (a Jonathan man).
The major reason behind this rift is no doubt the 2015 elections. The million dollar question is this: who is going to bow first?

FIRE, FIRE IN OUR KONTRI

KontriPipu, what is happening in our kontri? Not a day goes by that we do not get one report or the other about fire. The latest ones were in Ikeja City Mall yesterday, thank God disaster was averted as no lives were lost and the damage was not much.  Also, the office of the Chief of Godogodo in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State was yesterday by fire.
Please as we have been saying be safety conscious and endeavour to improve on your knowledge on safety.

TOP TEN CAREERS IN NIGERIA

KontriPipu, we want to hear your opinion on which careers in your view are considered as the top in Nigeria. In our view the basic criteria should include but not be restricted to the following:

  1. Income
  2. Job Security
  3. Employment Opportunities
  4. Career development
  5. Status
  6. Job satisfaction.
Abeg KontriPipu, let us endeavour to send in our opinions.

ONLY IN NIGERIA... (4)

Only in Nigeria would the elections still be over 2 years away and campaigns would have started for the elections. Nigeria is really a country of absurdities if not how can one explain a situation where the current political office holders have failed in their responsibilities to the people and are currently looking for a new term of office that is still far, far away.
The ideal thing to do should be to use their current terms to justify another term in office by their works. After all one good term deserves another.
We call on all political office holders to focus on now and leave tommorow to take care of itself, abi wetin kontriman go talk.

THE VALUE OF HUMAN LIFE...

Human life is sacred, even an animal has dignity of life and as such there is an appropriate way to kill them. These days we hear reports in Nigeria of how people are senselessly killed even for mundane reasons. It so bad that we can see a corpse and pass by as if nothing happened. No matter who dies even if it is a destitute, we should always remember that we are all human beings created by God, with a right to life. That society and the ruling class and other conditions have made some individuals to live lesser than human beings does not in any way give us the right to threat them with disdain. Please let us endeavour to show love and concern and  be our brothers keeper.

JOKES: 10 HUSBANDS, STILL A VIRGIN

A lawyer married a woman who had previously divorced ten husbands.
On their wedding night, she told her new husband, "Please be gentle, I'm still a virgin."
"What?" said the puzzled groom.
"How can that be if you've been married ten times?"

On September 27, 1825, it carried the first ever passenger rail service along its 40km route through industrial north-east England - changing the world forever.
Today, it is at the centre of another technological breakthrough that some scientists and engineers believe could be just as significant as steam locomotion.

FG Targets 10,000 MW

It would be a big relief if Nigeria can attain even 8000 MegaWatt. The real issue, beyond all the big grammar, is the readiness and willingness of government to attain the target. If they are ready, they will. But if they are not ready, and are only playing to the gallery as usual, then we should be ready for another year of darkness and generators.
After all, when they want to do things that favour them [like build new houses, buy planes and acquire fleet of cars], they do not even let us know, but they go ahead to acquire such things at the speed of light.
KontriMan can only pray that this time it is for real, but as we all know… with this folks, one can never be sure!

MORE FIRE OUTBREAKS

About five major fire incidents occurred recently around the country (Alaafin of Oyo’s Palace, Oyo State; Okobaba, Ebute Meta, Lagos State; MRS Depot, Apapa Lagos State; and Ajegunle, Lagos State; Ramat Hall, Bayero Uniersity, Kano). This is not forgetting the fire that recently gutted some parts of the INEC HQ.
KontriMan recently raised this issue of safety consciousness in working and living environments. KontriMan would continue to advise KontriPipu to take the issue seriously.
We sympathise with the victims of the incidents. We thank God that no lives were lost and wish the injured speedy recovery.

POLICE ARREST LAMIDO'S SON FOR KILLING MAN

The police in Kano yesterday arrested Aminu Sule, the oldest son of the Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, for vehicular homicide.
The Kano State police spokesperson, ASP Magaji Majia, confirmed the death of the yet-to-be identified victim, and that Aminu was being detained by the police.
SaharaReporters however learned of his release today on bail. The police would not say if they plan to charge Aminu for any offences relating to the death of the man.

ON NIGERIA'S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

The standard of the Nigerian educational system is far below required level for any country that is serious about its development. The current statistics are nothing to write home about, with the performance of our students dropping every day in Secondary certificate exams and qualifying exams. The higher institutions are no better, as even the graduates of these institutions bring the quality of the degrees that these institutions award into disrepute by their output.

FIRE SAFETY TIPS (2)

HOW TO REACT TO A FIRE
Try as we might to prevent them, fires can happen in a flash. When they do break out, you need to know how to react.

Here are some suggestions:

  • If you smell smoke or your smoke detectors sound, get your family out immediately. Call the fire department from a neighbor's house.

NATIONS CUP LIST OUT!

Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi, Joseph Yobo made Nigeria’s final list as expected to the 2013 Africa Nations Cup starting January 19 in South Africa. They lead 21 others including Ukraine-based Brown Ideye who made the team despite originally being rumoured as cut from the team by coach Stephen Keshi. The Nigeria coached released the final team list while the country engaged Cape Verde in a friendly match in Faro, Portugal Wednesday night. The match ended goalless.

ARE YOU ENJOYING WHAT YOU DO?

This might sound silly, but you should really reflect on this issue. Do you enjoy what you do? Would you rather be doing something else if you had your way? A lot of people you come in contact with would tell you that they are in their current jobs because of the money, or because that was the job they could get at the time.
Infact, in some cases, people study some courses in the university or higher institution because they are the popular ones, or because their parents wanted them to study such courses.
