CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA

It is a known fact that today in Nigeria, corruption is one of the biggest problems we face in Nigeria. It is no secrete that our leaders are corrupt. But the story does not end there; let us truly reflect and ask our selves this fundamental question? Is it only our leaders that are corrupt, what of we the people; are we any better?

The reality on ground today is that the difference between those in power and a lot of people is opportunity, let us tell ourselves the truth. Let us ask ourselves first what is corruption? The Oxford Dictionary defines corruption as:
- "dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery;
- the action or effect of making someone or something morally depraved..."
From the afore-mentioned definition it is evident that corruption in Nigeria has degrees, while some are at the pinnacle, others are at other levels from the bottom to the top and what separates them is opportunity. In view of this position while we are attacking those in power for corruption, we should endeavor to put our own houses in order. It has been said that a society gets the leadership it deserves. So the current state of our country is also determined by those of us who live in it. we all have a duty make changes in Nigeria and the task of making this country great lies with you and I.
